Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS)
The A.A.S Degree in Wind Energy Technology at Mesalands Community College provides instruction in wind turbine technology, turbine placement and construction, turbine operations and maintenance, monitoring and communications technology, tower safety, mechanical systems, electrical theory, power generation and distribution, hydraulics, digital electronics, and more. In addition, coursework in English, Mathematics and Science will give students the capability to grow and advance within the industry.
Students in this program will climb the College’s 1.5 megawatt wind turbine and apply the skills learned in the classroom. Graduates will have the quality, hands-on training and industry-related education that employers in the wind industry are eagerly seeking.
Applied Science Certificate
The Wind Energy Technology Certificate program is designed to give students a selection of courses to enhance professional opportunities in the growing field of wind energy. The Wind Energy Technology Certificate provides instruction in turbine maintenance, electrical theory, monitoring and communications technology, safety, motors, generators, and mechanical systems. Students who complete this one-year certificate will be prepared to ease the shortage of entry-level wind energy technicians.

Occupational Certificate
The North American Wind Research and Training Center (NAWRTC) at Mesalands Community College is pleased to announce an Occupational Certificate in Basic Wind Energy Technology. Students will learn wind turbine technology, turbine maintenance, tower safety, and wind economics. Course topics include studies in electricity, hydraulics, and mechanics, along with real-world experience on the College’s 1.5 megawatt wind turbine.
