February 28, 2024-Tucumcari, NM-In a landmark collaboration, Mesalands Community College and Impact Wind LLC are delighted to announce an educational agreement set to redefine the future of wind energy training. This agreement is a testament to our shared commitment to advancing renewable energy education and providing a skilled workforce for the growing green energy sector, through the esteemed Global Wind Organization (GWO) certification program.
The agreement marks a pivotal moment for both organizations. Impact Wind LLC, since its transition to new ownership in 2022, has seen remarkable growth, expanding from six to seventy-two employees. This expansion reflects our dedication to setting the highest standards in operational excellence, safety, and environmental responsibility. Mesalands Community College brings to this agreement a unique wind turbine training facility, New Mexico’s only active teaching turbine, offering an unparalleled hands-on learning experience and establishing Mesalands as a leader in GWO certification training.
Our collaboration is designed to equip students with exclusive access to GWO certifications, alongside advanced degrees and certificates in Wind and Renewable Energy. We are excited to welcome our inaugural class of twenty-four students, a significant step towards nurturing the next generation of renewable energy professionals. The support from our local community, offering accommodations and dining options, is instrumental in enriching the student experience, ensuring a comprehensive and supportive learning environment.
Graduates of the GWO training program will have the potential to join Impact Wind LLC, subject to meeting our thorough hiring criteria. This direct link between education and employment not only validates the program’s value but also its alignment with the industry’s needs, offering students a clear pathway to meaningful careers in renewable energy.
Both Mesalands Community College and Impact Wind LLC recognize the transformative potential of this agreement. Dr. Moss, Interim President of Mesalands, and the leadership team at Impact Wind LLC share a vision for the impact of this agreement, not only on the local community and state of New Mexico but also on the national renewable energy landscape. Our joint plans to expand the curriculum to include solar energy training further emphasize our commitment to a diversified approach to renewable energy education.
