Mesalands Community College Nursing Approved by Higher Education Department

Mesalands Community College received approval from the Higher Education Department of New Mexico for their nursing program. It has now been sent to the Higher Learning Commission for accreditation and final approval. The College could begin their Nursing program as early as the Fall semester.

The news comes as the nation is experiencing a nursing shortage. Hospitals are facing a critical shortage of workers. With 23% of hospitals reporting a critical staffing shortage to the government, hospitals have seen a decrease of nearly 105,000 employees since February 2020.

Mesalands Community College is delighted to have the opportunity to partner with healthcare and lead the way in supplying the next generation of nurses.
