Mesalands College Awarded Additional $5,000 in Emergency Aid to Students

Mesalands College has been awarded $5,000 from the Educational Credit Management
Corporation (ECMC) Emergency Aid Program to help benefit students that are in financial
emergencies. The College maintains an emergency aid fund for students to ensure their success.
Unforeseen financial emergencies such as vehicle maintenance, transportation needs, or other
unexpected costs may cause a student to withdraw from college or hinder their success.

Mesalands College has made student success a top priority. To eliminate all barriers, an
emergency fund has been created to support students in their academic studies and career
training. In the event of an unforeseen emergency that may make attendance or success
impossible, Mesalands College provides students with resources to overcome those barriers.

“Small emergencies can be detrimental to a student’s academic and professional success. Our
food pantry and emergency services can be all the difference in a student’s future. This
partnership with ECMC and additional funds ensures students have every opportunity to
succeed.” Said Dr. Gregg Busch, President.

Educational Credit Management Corporation (ECMC) is a nonprofit corporation whose vision is
to empower underserved communities to thrive through education. ECMC Group’s mission is to
help students succeed by creating, providing and investing in innovative educational
opportunities. The Emergency Aid Program was developed by the U.S. Department of Education
and partnered with ECMC to help fund and assign institutions that meet the guidelines
requirements.

Mesalands Community College has continued to participate in the ECMC Emergency Aid
Program. Through this participation, Mesalands has been awarded an additional $5,000 to assist
students that are dealing with unforeseen financial emergencies that could potentially cause
students to withdraw.
