Student Safety Highlighted in Narcan Training

June 17, 2021 – Mesalands Community College partnered with the Quay County Health Council in a training for administering Narcan. Fifteen employees of Mesalands Community College are now certified to administer and are in possession of Narcan in the unfortunate event of an overdose on campus.

Narcan stops an opioid overdose. This may happen with medications absentmindedly taken repetitively. The training highlighted the importance of overcoming the public stigma of overdoses. It could happen to anyone on pain management medication.

The College plans to provide training in the fall for faculty and staff who were unable to attend. Mesalands Community College continues to be committed to student success and safety.
