Last weekend, the Mesalands Community College Rodeo Team competed at Cochise College located in Ft. Huachuca, NM.

At this rodeo, the Mesalands Rodeo Team had some tough luck in the competition.

However, Scotty Bevins from Amsterdam, NY fourth third in the long-go round of the bareback riding event, with 63 points. Bevins is currently second in the Grand Canyon Region with 525 points.

In the bull riding, only one student athlete covered both bulls during the rodeo. Holden Hedgepeth from Damascus, AR placed third in the short-go round. Fellow teammate Kenneth “Blue” Wilcox from Greenbrier, AR, took fourth in the short-go round. Wilcox is still leading the region with 210 points.

“Well, we’re on to the next rodeo,” said Staci Stanbrough, Interim Intercollegiate Rodeo Coach and Animal Science Faculty at Mesalands.

This weekend, the Mesalands Rodeo Team will compete in Casa Grande, AZ, with another rodeo in Tucson, AZ the following Saturday.
