Mesalands Community College’s education degree programs offer the potential for many rewarding career paths. The College offers an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education and Secondary Education.
The Bilingual option is an internationally significant field that crosses many disciplines. Students are provided with opportunities to become teachers and educational leaders who will work with children to develop a democratic and pluralistic society.
Early Childhood Education
The Early Childhood option provides opportunities for students to bring together subject matter knowledge, appropriate strategies, and the interpersonal skills essential to provide children with successful learning experiences. Students will become versed in individualized instruction and sensitive to developmental and sociocultural issues involving the learner.
The Elementary Education option provides opportunities for students to explore a variety of subjects in the social and natural sciences and humanities. It also equips students with the appropriate strategies and interpersonal skills essential to offer successful learning experiences to a diverse society of children.
The Secondary Education option provides students with opportunities and experiences to work with children who come from a broad range of cultural, ethnic, and economic backgrounds. Students will be prepared for career roles including teachers of science, social sciences and humanities as well as educational leaders, researchers, media, and computer specialists.
