Student Characteristics
In the Fall of 2023, Mesalands Community College had a headcount of 481
undergraduate students. Of these 61% were male and 39% were female. The
ethnic diversity included 6% American Indian/Alaska Native, 1% Asian/Pacific
Islander, 2% Black /African American, 45% Hispanic/Latino, 34% White, 1% non-
US Resident, and 11% race/ethnicity unknown.
In the Fall of 2023, 25% were dual enrollment students, 40% were correctional
facility students, and 35% were main campus students. Seventy-three percent of
students were Degree Seeking, while 27% were Non-Degree Seeking students.
In the Spring of 2024, Mesalands Community College had a headcount of 570
undergraduate students. Of these 68% were male and 32% were female. The
ethnic diversity included 5% American Indian/Alaska Native, 1% Asian/Pacific
Islander, 3% Black /African American, 50% Hispanic/Latino, 31% White, 1% non-
US Resident, and 9% race/ethnicity unknown.
In the Spring of 2024, 24% were dual enrollment students, 49% were correctional
facility students, and 27% were main campus students. Seventy-four percent of
students were Degree Seeking, while 26% were Non-Degree Seeking students.
Retention Rates
For the Fall of 2022, 58% of first-time, full-time undergraduate students returned
in the Fall of 2022. The part-time student retention rate was 67%.
Graduation and Transfer-out Rates
The overall Graduation Rate was 56%. The Transfer-out rate was 8%.
