Mesalands Community College is proud to announce the arrival of its brand-new semi-truck. This marks a major step towards the beginning of our CDL program. Featuring a deep metallic blue that glitters under the Tucumcari sun, an interior with leather seats in the back, providing a dedicated space for students to follow the instructor’s every move first-hand, this premier mobile classroom provides the literal engine for Mesalands’ upcoming high-quality CDL training.
Thanks to the hard work of Mrs. Kim Enriquez and the support of other Mesalands staff, the Commercial Driver License training is closer than ever. This is an intensive training program designed to turn aspiring truckers into professional drivers within 6 weeks!
While many CDL programs are moving towards automatics, we focus on preparing you for success at the Commercial Driver’s License test. This new truck uses a manual transmission, which is what aspiring truck drivers test into to get their license, but beyond passing the test, it allows us to design a program to produce elite drivers who truly understand their machines.
The course will not only teach you how to expertly operate semi-trucks, but it will also teach you important concepts to be a vigilant and safe driver when you are on the road. Additionally, students will gain micro-credentials that could give their resume an edge when they start looking for a job.
We are excited about this new program, as it brings relevant, in-demand skill training that would be a net positive for Tucumcari's economy. Sitting at the heart of I-40, the backbone of the American economy passes through our town every single day. With Mesalands CDL training, we are not just teaching a trade; we are helping develop the local economy by training drivers to enter high-paying, high-demand careers without leaving the community!
