This upcoming weekend will be an exciting time for the town of Tucumcari. The Mesalands Foundation Annual Shrimp Boil is back! This is the 27th edition of our town’s most beloved Mardi gras event. Grab your bibs and your dancing shoes, and join us this Saturday, February 21st, for a night of great food and even better company.
The Foundation Shrimp Boil is a fundraising event whose proceeds help fund a scholarship for Mesalands freshmen. Your support in this event directly advances education in Tucumcari and contributes to the output of skilled labor in our community. With $9,000 awarded to students over the last 2 years, the foundation is keen to expand these efforts to further increase access to higher education and ensure a promising future for the town and its people.
Beyond the fundraising aspect, the Foundation Shrimp Boil is a great time that you don’t want to miss out on. Ticket holders get to enjoy a first-class all-you-can-eat shrimp boil. The cooks will bring out large pots of shrimp, potatoes, corn on the cob & sausage, served on large paper-lined tables for an authentic Louisiana communal feast! What’s more? The exciting live band Limited Edition will perform, so you can move your body to a mix of country, NM, and “oldies” music after a delicious meal. This is your chance to enjoy everything Mardi Gras has to offer right here in Tucumcari. And of course, don’t forget our famous Dessert Auction, hosted by Altrusa International this year, with Franklin McCasland as the auctioneer. If you have a sweet tooth, make sure you’re ready to bid. The competition will be fierce, but if you bid, you may get to go home with a rare treat of deliciousness enhanced by the taste of winning.
