Redesign Matrix Eliminates Barriers to Increase Student Success

Mesalands Community College President, Dr. Gregg Busch presented the Redesign Matrix as a tool to eliminate barriers to student success and allow access to all students. The prudent use of resources will reinforce Mesalands Community College as it Leads The Way in building student’s careers.

“It’s important to note this is not a reorganization or restructure it’s an alignment of tasks to ensure student success and access to break down silos that exist at the College and improve communication and collaboration across the College.”

Dr. Gregg Busch, President

The redesign utilizes a leadership matrix founded in mission, not hierarchy. All leadership models are to focus on three key areas: Student Success, Student Access, and Prudent use of Resources. Tasks are assigned along the key areas and held responsible by the Vice Presidents of each model. The models are designed to function efficiently always placing the three areas in priority: Student Success, Student Access, and Prudent use of Resources. The redesign utilizes many of the already established process with the three key differences driving its mission: Student Success, Student Access, and Prudent Use of Resources.

In the redesign of the Matrix, Vice Presidents’ positions are as follows: Vice President of Student Affairs (Dr. Aaron Kennedy), Vice President of Academic Affairs (Ms. Natalie Gillard), Vice President of Campus Affairs and External relations (Mr. Jim Morgan), Vice President for Student Success and Access, Diversity Inclusion & Equity, and Institutional Effectiveness (Dr. Hazel Rountree), Vice President for Public Relations, Student Transfer Services, and Strategic Enrollment Management (Mr. Josh McVey).

The Vice Presidents will be responsible for the tasks within their model. They will be reaching out to their responsible parties tomorrow and communicating the mission of the College in all areas: Student Success, Student Access, and Prudent Use of Resources.
