Pumpkin Carving Contest in Tucumcari

Activities are on the horizon in the wonderful community of Tucumcari, New Mexico.

This Halloween season celebrate fall fun with pumpkin carving, drive-by trick or treating, and a visit to the pumpkin patch. Everyone can benefit from the events going on in town. Our very own Dinosaur Museum is also participating and leading the way in community events.

The Dinosaur Museum, under the direction of Loni Monahan, inspired the Drive-by Trunk or Treat with their great success from last year. There will be another drive-by Trunk or Treat again this year including a stop at the Dinosaur Museum. The maps can be found at the Railroad Depot. There are currently twenty-five businesses participating. Participants will be able to drive up to locations where candy will be brought to your vehicle. There is no need to leave the vehicle, similar to last year’s event. The event begins at 4 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. Get your maps and times at the Train Depot.

Head over to the Tucumcari Chamber of Commerce (404 W. Rt. 66 Blvd.) Saturday October 23rd after 1 p.m. to pick out a pumpkin. Children get first dibs from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. to pick the perfect pumpkin for their carved creation.

On October 30th drop your carved pumpkin at the Historic Museum (416 S. Adam St.) between 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. The public will judge the pumpkins in the Pumpkin Crawl 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. The winner will receive $200 from the Chamber of Commerce. Judging will be done by the visiting public as they walk the wonderfully carved designs.

A lot is going on in the community, join the fun at this year’s Tucumscary Celebration!
