Mesalands Community College is pleased to be hosting its 17th Annual Iron Pour on March 8-14, 2015 from 9 am-9 pm in the foundry located in Building D, with the pour on Friday, March 13. The community is invited to drop in all week to observe the iron pour process. The College has scheduled various activities throughout the week, to celebrate this exciting event:
Tuesday, March 10
Art Show and Literary Readings
The Art Show will be held in the Mesalands Library at 5:30 pm. Sculptures created by Mesalands students during prior iron pours, will be on display during the Art Show, and throughout the week.
For the literary readings, students and local writers will be performing poetry and other short stories in the Commons at 6:00 pm.
A slideshow of artists work will follow in the Great Room.
Wednesday, March 11
Object Theater Performance
The Object Theater Performance “To Feel Is in A Question/The Art of Being a Spectator” by Isabelle Kessler will be held at the North American Wind Research and Training Center lecture hall at 11:00 am and 6:00 pm.
Friday, March 13
Opening Ceremony for the Pour
The opening ceremony for the actual pouring of the cast iron will begin at 11:30 am on Friday, March 13 and the pour will follow.
