On May 3rd, at 11 am, the town gathered at Mesalands Community College’s North American Wind Research and Training Center to celebrate Cinco de Mayo early! Food trucks, vendors, and talented musicians all came through to make this a memorable event.

It was a nice sunny day. Although it was windy, the wind is a usual guest of the town, so it did not stop anyone from having fun. Vendors set up stands selling a whole host of products, from various accessories to decorative art pieces. Mesalands also had a stand with games and prizes for the winners, as well as free giveaways such as bandanas, bracelets, and rubber ducks! Additionally, the event had food trucks providing several delicious snacks and meals. There were plenty of engaging activities for the guests who attended the event, with entertainment at every corner. The live performance by the professional musicians hired by the town made the event all the more exciting. Wearing cultural outfits and performing with passion, the attendees were captivated by the musicians who made an appearance.

Mesalands Community College is proud to be part of the Tucumcari community. In fact, the town offers many strategic advantages that make some of the college’s most unique programs possible, including but not limited to the consistent wind for its Wind Energy Technology program and the fossil-rich land for the paleontology program. Therefore, the college is always keen to give back to the town, either by providing its facilities or sponsoring local initiatives.
