Mesalands Community College has new community education classes starting next month.
For March, the National Weather Service (NWS) in Albuquerque will be offering a SKYWARN™ Spotter Training on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, 6-8:30 pm in the lecture hall at the North American Wind Research and Training Center. NWS meteorologists will teach participants how to become a volunteer weather spotter for the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail, and Snow Network. There is no cost for this class.
Community members may also take a series of classes on the benefits of therapeutic-grade essential oils. For the Good Night, Sleep Tight class, on Thursday, March 7, 2019, 6:30-7:30 pm, students will learn how to improve their quality of sleep with the use of essential oils. How to boost one’s immune system with essential oils will be covered in the Crank It Up class, on Thursday, March 14, 2019, 6:30-7:30 pm. In the Finding Nirvana class on Thursday, March 21, 2019,
6:30-7:30 pm, certain oils to help relieve pain will be discussed. The cost of each class is $10.
There will be another Ancient Chinese Secret: Chinese Cooking class on Monday, March 18, 6-7:30 pm, students will prepare favorite Chinese dishes, including stir fry, egg drop soup and fried rice. Cost is $10, plus a $5 supply fee (payable to the instructor the day of the class).
Community members that are interested in earning their High School Equivalency (HSE), formally known as GED®, diploma are encouraged to attend the HSE Orientation on Monday, March 4,
6-7 pm. There is no cost for this orientation.
