Artwork created by students during the Mesalands Community College’s Annual Iron Pour, will be on display from October 26-December 30, 2018 at the Amarillo Museum of Art in Amarillo, TX. The “Burning Ring of Fire: 20 Years of Cast Iron Sculpture in Tucumcari, NM” exhibition will include artwork created by students and faculty, during the Annual Iron Pour at Mesalands Community College. The exhibition will commence with an opening reception on Friday, October 26 at 6:30 pm. There is no charge to attend. The Amarillo Museum of Art is open Tuesday through Friday from
10 am to 5 pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5 pm. The Museum is located at 2200 S. Van Buren Street.
Faculty members from the Fine Arts Department at Mesalands, will also have an iron mold carving workshop on on Saturday, October 27 from 10 am to 2 pm at the Arts in the Sunset, located at 3701 Plains Boulevard in Amarillo Then on October 27 at 3 pm, watch the exciting process of melting and casting iron into sculpture. This workshop is open to community members who are interested in the hot iron casting process. A limited number of molds will be available to purchase for $20.
