The “Cost of Attendance” at Mesalands Community College is the starting point of your financial aid package. The U.S. Department of Education mandates five components when determining the cost of attendance: tuition and fees, room and board, books, transportation and personal expenses. The figures used in the components of the cost of attendance are average amounts determined by surveying our students and using other direct costs.

Anticipated Aid
Upon receipt of a student’s FAFSA and the completion of necessary verification, (if applicable) the student’s “anticipated” financial aid award will be posted to the student’s account in the Business Office.
Bookstore Charges
Once a student’s anticipated aid has posted, the student will be allowed to charge necessary books and supplies at the Mesalands Community College Bookstore. Charges are allowed one (1) week prior to the start of a semester with specific deadlines as posted by the Business Office throughout the semester.
Students are not required to purchase necessary books and supplies from the Mesalands Bookstore. Students wishing to use outside sources to purchase or rent books, will not be able to apply financial aid to non-institutional charges. After institutional charges (i.e. tuition, fees, books & supplies purchased at Bookstore, housing, etc.) have been applied to the students account and financial aid deducted, if a credit balance is created, the student will receive a disbursement (see Mesalands Disbursement Policy).
