How to Become A Successful Distance Education Student

  • Enrollment in CIS 129: Introduction to Internet Learning is mandatory for all students who intend to take Internet courses. CIS 129 must be completed before students may access their Internet courses. All Internet courses (except CIS129) begin one week later than traditional courses. Students completing CIS 129 by end-of-day Friday in the first week of the semester will have access to their other Internet courses at 8 a.m. on Monday of the second full week of classes. (Please note that it can take up to 48 hours to gain access to an Internet course after completion of CIS 129.)
  • Stay in contact with your instructor/facilitator concerning completion deadlines for course work and exams.
  • Be prepared to schedule time to complete exams and turn in other coursework.
  • Seek assistance from other students enrolled in the same course.
  • All Webcast DVDs and course materials are available through the Distance Education Department.
  • Books may be purchased from the College bookstore or checked out from Academic Affairs.
