Summer Adventure Camp Schedule

SAC 119: Dino Digging

Mesalands Community College’s Dinosaur Museum and
Natural Sciences Laboratory
Ages: 7-13 years old
Campers will participate in a scavenger hunt, build dinosaur models, make plaster molds of fossils, draw dinosaurs, and more. The camp will conclude with a fossil hunting field trip at an out of town location.

SAC 166: Let’s Make Sculpture

Campers will bend-twist, cut, roll and finally mold their own original sculpture work. This week-long class will get campers started in the world of sculpture.

SAC 168: Kids’ Physical Activity Camp

Campers will participate in a wide-variety of physical activities in a fun-filled, low-intensity, non-competitive environment. Activities will include, but are not limited to: floor hockey, kickball, Ultimate Frisbee, yoga, etc., with the goal of improving the child’s balance, agility, coordination, flexibility, muscular and aerobic fitness. Variety and fun are our goals!

SAC: 171: Sleep with the Dinosaurs

Natural Sciences Laboratory
Ages: 7-13 years old
Spend a night at the Mesalands Community College’s Dinosaur Museum and Natural Sciences Laboratory sleeping alongside Acrocanthosaurus! Campers will challenge their knowledge of dinosaurs with our fun museum activities. Space is limited so register early. Adult supervision is required. There must be a minimum of one paying adult (21 years of age or older) for every three children. Cost includes pizza dinner and light breakfast.
$30/person non-members of Fossil Friends

SAC 225: Conversational American Sign Language

Campers will create a variety of crafting projects in this course. It will be busy fun and projects will be showcased at our end of camp recital.

Students will learn a combination routine of jazz/contemporary dance/hip hop. They will acquire fundamental skills of dance and discipline in the performing arts. Campers will have a recital during the summer barbeque on Friday, June 27. Camper’s families and the College community are invited to attend.

Students will learn the many creative ways to make a healthy snack into fun. Come learn to make a dolphin out of a banana or a worm out of grapes or a pizza out of watermelon. It will be great fun and kids will get a healthy snack that’s fun to look at too.

Watercolor for beginners is full of eye opening (and even game changing) watercolor painting techniques that will get campers started on the right path, right away. From brush strokes to paint texture techniques, campers will learn the secrets to creating the perfect color every time.

Over this week campers will get the chance to experiment and learn about the wonders of science and all the discoveries in science that have helped shape the world today, from putting a man on the moon to the technology used on a daily basis. Young inquiring minds will be given opportunities to learn the basic concepts of chemistry, astronomy, physics, geology and engineering.
