July 10, 2017

U.S. Senator Tom Udall (D-NM) recently visited the Mesalands Community College’s Dinosaur Museum and Natural Sciences Laboratory. Senator Udall said this was his first time to visit the Dinosaur Museum, but was familiar with the research projects conducted by Mesalands faculty, staff, and students.

The guided tour of the Museum was provided by Gretchen Gurtler, Director of the Mesalands Dinosaur Museum, with the assistance of Dr. Axel Hungerbuehler, Natural Sciences Faculty/Museum Curator, and Eva Sawyer, Natural Sciences student and Museum volunteer. Mesalands Board of Trustees Member, Teresa Stephenson, also took part in the tour.

Senator Udall said it was a real pleasure to visit the Mesalands Dinosaur Museum.

“This is a great educational facility for children and visitors of all ages,” Senator Udall said. “They’re doing great work to inspire and train the next generation of paleontologists.”
