Free admission to the Mesalands Dinosaur Museum on Sept. 26

The Mesalands Community College’s Dinosaur Museum and Natural Sciences Laboratory will open its doors free of charge to the community on Saturday, September 26, 2015 in celebration of the Smithsonian’s Magazine’s 11th Annual Museum Day Live! This event reflects Smithsonian’s commitment to make learning and the spread of knowledge accessible to everyone. Nearly 1,300 museums across the U.S. will be participating in Museum Day Live! To gain free admission to the Mesalands Dinosaur Museum on Museum Day Live! visit www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday/ to print the tickets.

The Mesalands Dinosaur Museum is home to a host of replicated and original fossils from tiny footprint casts to the 40′ long skeleton Torvosaurus, a rare carnivore relative of Tyrannosaurus rex. Many of the genuine fossils on display were collected by students enrolled in the Paleontology program at Mesalands Community College.

The Mesalands Community College’s Dinosaur Museum and Natural Sciences Laboratory is located at 222 East Laughlin Avenue in Tucumcari and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. For more information, contact the Mesalands Dinosaur Museum at (575) 461-3466 (DINO).
