Summer Adventure Camp Class Schedule

SAC 168: Kids’ Physical Activity Camp
Instructor: Tom Morris

Ages: 5-11
This camp provides children ages 5 to 11 years old the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of physical activities in a fun-filled, low-intensity, non-competitive environment. Activities will include, but not limited to, floor hockey, kickball, cardiokickboxing, Ultimate Frisbee, Yoga, etc., with the goal of improving the child’s balance, agility, coordination, flexibility, muscular and aerobic fitness. Variety and fun are our goals!
Cost: $30

SAC 255: Science Day at the Museum
Instructor: Mesalands Dinosaur Museum staff
Date(s): June 19
Time: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Location: Mesalands Dinosaur Museum and Natural Sciences Laboratory
Ages: 7-12
Students will spend a fun-filled morning learning all about dinosaurs, museum science, and geology. Outside educators will provide additional learning events during this class.

SAC 275: Crazy 3D Stuff

Time: 5:00 – 8:00 pm
Location: Computer Lab A114
Ages: 12-16
Use your creativity to learn how to make crazy graphics using Solidworks. Campers will also learn to create a 3D car.

SAC 276: Self Defense for Kids
Instructor: Michael Bilopavlovich

Time: 5:00 – 8:00 pm
Location: Health and Wellness Center – Room A238
Ages: 12-16
Kids, want to learn some basic self-defense? Learn how to do hand strikes and kicks. Simple breathing techniques, balance, and proper balance stances will also be emphasized. The best tool you have in a self-defense situation is yourself.

SAC 278: Painting for Kids

Time: 1:00 – 4:00 pm
Location: Building D – Art Foundry
Ages: 9-12
No experience necessary! Come join me for a fun painting class! Students will learn the basics of painting and take home their very own painting.
Cost $30

SAC 279: Micaceous Pottery
Instructor: Martha Stephens
Date(s): June 20 & 22 and June 27 & 29
Firing of pots on June 30th
Time: 1:00 – 4:00 pm
Location: Building D – Art Foundry
Ages: 9-12
Learn how the ancient people made their pottery! We will explore making a pot from micaceous clay. All items will be hand built and fired outside on the last day of the class. (If there is a burn ban, the instructor will fire the pots in a kiln.)
Cost: $60

SAC 280: Fairy Tale Workshop

Ages: 6-10
Campers will enjoy the reading of great fairy tales in story hour followed by learning craft activities related to the book’s story and message.

SAC 281: Teen Life
Instructor: Heather Aragon

Time: 1:00- 4:00 pm
Location: C313
Ages: 13-16
Teens will learn valuable life skills, through scenarios that reflect real-life situations. Each scenario will show teens how to handle life on a budget and the wrenches that get thrown in our day-to-day lives. They will leave the class knowing how to handle real-life events, and cope with the stressors that impact the everyday lives of adults.
Cost $20

CE 275: Painting Class

Never painted before? Experienced artist? Take part in an evening of fun and painting. No experience necessary.
