Math 101 Basic Algebra

Students wishing to enroll in math or English courses must take the Success Assessment/Placement Test to determine the level of math or English in which they may enroll. Students living outside the Mesalands Community College area, for whom it is not practical to test in person, may contact the Office of Enrollment Management at (575)461-4413 x153 for alternative course placement options.

This course is an introduction or review of basic algebra. Topics include integers, rational numbers, exponentials, roots and radicals, polynomials, factoring, algebraic fractions linear equations and inequalities, factorable quadratic equations, formulas and word problems. Rational expressions, and factoring.

Prerequisite: A grade of “C” or better in MATH 100 or appropriate score on the ACT COMPASS Success/Assessment Placement Test.
