GEOL 141 Introduction to Environmental Science
Introduction to Environmental Science presents an overview of Earth’s ecosystem, with an emphasis on physical processes, and man's impact upon it. The topics explored in this class include the geological processes that shape our planet, natural hazards such as earthquakes and volcanoes, water, mineral, and energy resources, and the problems of waste disposal and pollution.
The class is offered online through the Internet using WebCT via this Web page. The course does not require any previous course work or knowledge in college-level geology. Grading will be based on tests and laboratory exercises. The course utilizes Edward Keller’s text Introduction to Environmental Geology(3rd ed.) and includes on-line laboratory exercises.
