DINOSAURS: THE COURSE

Dinosaurs are an ever-popular subject with kids of all ages. However, most people don’t know basic information about these fascinating animals – they think, for example, that some of them swam in the ocean, that mammoths are dinosaurs or that dinosaurs coexisted with humans.

Mesalands Community College’s class GEOL 125 Dinosaurs will provide you with a general introduction to all aspects of the subject. It includes a survey of all the main groups of dinosaurs as well as aspects of their biology, evolution and extinction.

The entire class is offered online through the Internet using WebCT via this Web page. The course does not require any previous course work or knowledge in college-level geology or biology. Grading will be based on tests, a research paper and laboratory exercises. GEOL 125 Dinosaurs is a four-credit class that may be taken for credit or as an audit. The course utilizes Spencer Lucas’ text Dinosaur: The Textbook and includes on-line laboratory exercises.
