Facilities

Our Farrier Science program facilities are designed with each individual student in mind.  We have a large, well equipped indoor shoeing arena with individual anvils, forges, vises, and other specialty hand tools for each student.  These customized facilities give you a place to work and practice during class and any time the shop is open without competing for a workspace.

Instructors

At Mesalands Community College you will have access to  instructors who are American Farriers Association certified journeyman farriers.  Our instructors radiate enthusiasm and excitement for the farrier industry and are interested in each student's success, bringing it to a level each student can understand.

Options

Within the Farrier Science program there are two options.  We offer a 16 week certificate program involving 19 credit hours of anatomy, business, blacksmithing, horseshoeing, and theory.  The second option is a two year associates degree in applied sciences with emphasis in Farrier Science. The degree offers a more in depth, timely program.
