WebCT Orientation

Students who have never taken a WebCT Internet course at Mesalands Community College are required to take computer information systems  CIS 130 WebCT Orientation.  It is offered every semester.  Upon completion of your enrollment (payment) into a WebCT Internet class you will receive an information packet with instructions on how to log in and complete the CIS 130 WebCT Orientation course.  Successful completion allows you access to your other WebCT Internet classes.

CIS 130 WebCT Orientation

This introductory course is designed to teach the student the necessary skills to be successful in Mesalands Community College WebCT Internet courses.  WebCT provides course tools such as class email, bulletin board/discussion forum, calendars, course material, quizzes, and assignment submission capabilities.  The orientation will assist the student in learning the tools of WebCT and also allow him/her to practice submitting an assignment on line, taking a quiz, and working with email, discussion boards and calendars.

This training will enable students to have confidence in their ability to succeed in the College’s WebCT orientation Internet courses.  This class is designed to be completed in one week (first week of classes, no exceptions), and upon completion students will be allowed into their other WebCT online classes.  Since this class is required to be completed prior to starting other WebCT online classes, it is critical that students allow time to complete this orientation.

Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) Telecourse, Mesalands Telecommunications Network (MTN),  and Video College

Students should contact the Educational Services Center or their class facilitator within the first week of class to receive their class syllabus, and other course materials.  If the student does not live in the Tucumcari area, course materials will be mailed to the student after the student has contacted the Educational Service Center to let them know you need your materials mailed to you.

Please remember that PBS, Video College, and Mesalands Telecommunications Network courses are coordinated by a facilitator on campus who is not an expert in the subject.  Facilitator’s are responsible only for providing the student with course materials, tracking grades and administering assessments.

Be sure to have a plan.  Notify your instructor if you have such a situation.
