How To Become a Distance Education Student
 At
 Mesalands Community College

 

Once you have looked over the schedule of Distance Education courses and are ready to register for a course, follow these steps:

 

1.   Apply for Admission

 

There are several ways that you can apply for admission at Mesalands Community College.

 

      Online

 

If you have not taken courses through Mesalands Community College before, you will first need to submit an Application for Admission. To download and print the admission form online:  Click Here

Regular Mail

 

You can call the Office of Enrollment Management at (575) 461-4413, extension 153, to have an admission form mailed to you. 

 

Once you have completed the form, you may return it by mail to:

In Person

 

You may pick up an admission form at the Office of Enrollment Management and complete it while on campus.

 

2.   Have Official Transcripts sent (Degree-seeking students)

 

If you are applying as a degree-seeking student, you will need to have official transcripts sent from your high school or GED test center and from all other colleges or universities previously attended. These transcripts must be sent directly from the institutions; do not mail a copy you have or hand carry a copy. 3.   Register for Class(es)

 

Online

 

Once you have applied for admission, the next step is to register for classes.

You may do this through the College’s Website by clicking on Online Registration

 

The system will ask you for a PIN number.  Your PIN will be your six‑digit date of birth; for example, if you were born on May 8, 1967, you would enter "050867". Your student ID will be your nine digit Social Security number (no dashes or spaces). Once you are logged on, click on the Registration tab.

 

NOTE: If you are applying to Mesalands Community College for the first time, you will need to allow approximately one week from the time your application is received until you will have access to the online registration component.

 

When registering online for Distance Education courses, be sure to choose only course sections that show INTERNET,” “PBS,” Comcast, or “Video College” as the location/room.

 

Regular Mail

 

You can call the Office of Enrollment Management at (575) 461-4413, extension 153, to have a registration form mailed to you.

4.   Pay Tuition and Fees

 

If you register online, your total bill for tuition and fees will be available instantly. Simply click the ABilling@ tab for an itemized list of charges and the total owed.

 

You may pay in person, by mail, or by credit card by calling our Business Office at (575) 461-4413, extension 110. Your bill must be paid in full prior to the beginning of the late enrollment period, or you will need to re-enroll and a late fee will be assessed.

 

5.   Purchase Books and Required Materials

 

Books may be ordered by contacting the Mesalands Community College Bookstore at (575) 461-4413, extension 149. Payment for books may be made by credit card at the time of order.  Be sure to mention that you are looking for a textbook for a distance learning course.

 

6.   Placement Testing Requirements for Distance Education Courses

 

Degree-seeking students or any student wishing to enroll in math or English courses must take the Success Assessment/Placement Test to determine the level of math or English in which they may enroll.  Students living outside the Mesalands Community College area, for whom it is not practical to test in person, may contact the Office of Enrollment Management at (575) 461-4413, extension 153, for alternative course placement options.
